Maison Cimes gives new meaning to the idea of mountain luxury. This incredibly unique guest house is comprised of only five bedrooms, each impeccably decorated with Scandinavian furniture and a terrace or balcony of each room. Maison Cimes is built on a mountain slope from an old converted hiker’s cottage in the small mountain town of Les Orres in the Haute-Alps in Southern France. If your dream ski vacation is something truly remote and unique, the Maison Cimes is here to bring that fantasy to life.
The guest house was started by two restaurant owners, who wanted to create the perfect mountain escape. One that would provide access to the slopes, while still providing a warm and comforting place to come back to, filled with delicious food. Operating as a bed and breakfast style establishment, breakfast is included each morning, with a massive spread of local and homemade items to get you ready for a day of adventure. There is also an onsite restaurant, open just a few nights a week, depending on the season, that serves up inventive seasonal cuisine. The owners will also share their love of food with you through a cooking class in which you will learn to make some of their best recipes and then dine on the food that you make.
Les Orres sits in the south of France, close to the Italian border. From the peak of the mountain, you can look down over Serre-Ponçon Lake, the Ecrins National Park, and Parpillon mountain range. Because of the relatively southern locale, the ski season is a bit shorter than other areas, generally open from mid-December to mid-April. Maison Cimes operates seasonally to match the peak ski season, and also opens for a few months in late summer, for guests that want to experience a different side of the region.
Maison Cimes is simplicity at its finest. Good food, good company, beautiful scenery. This is the philosophy behind the guest house, they truly give new meaning to the idea of hospitality, and all tucked away in this small French village. Once you find your way here, you’ll wonder why it took you this long.
